About the solution
Pınar, who has been in depression for 7 years, said that “You couldn’t even make your daily needs when you are in depression. As if trapped in a negative black cloud, you feel like you're just waiting to die.” She attempted various self-help methods because her family doesn’t have a positive view of psychologists. After she started studying in the department of psychology, she noticed that recognition of emotions, thoughts, and behaviors works well in dispersing the dark clouds. She has started developing a psychology app that will be accessible to individuals who have or have not been able to seek professional treatment. With this app, patients will be able to find a facilitating option during the recovery phase by understanding how their feelings and thoughts impact their behaviors.
Elif, a second-year psychology student, got diagnosed with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in the first year of college. ADHD can heavily impact daily life, in which symptoms can vary from person to person. It can affect one’s work or academic life as well. She sought different solutions to prevent these symptoms from affecting her life. First, it was physical notebooks then it become notes on the phone after some time she started to search for apps that would make everything easier. She used various apps but none of them would help her to understand her symptoms and help her through her daily struggles. However, there was no app that was personalized to address her own unique struggles.
Our innovation promotes “inward-oriented mindfulness activities” augmented with real-time or offline neurofeedback guidance. The aim is to provide a hybrid platform (earpods equipped with EEG sensors and a dedicated digital application), such that individuals can start building up their own routines to explore and improve their well-being with the guidance and feedback gathered by their own brain waves. Our earpods provide a more convenient and non-disruptive user experience thanks to its customary design and affordable price. In addition, its powerful analysis software helps to discover mental processes such as focus span, stress level, sleep-quality with tailored games, practices and activities.
Our solution gives users and professionals oversight on users' daily mental state by virtue of the feedback from brainwaves using our earpods. Acquired data is analyzed by ad-hoc methods to give real-time feedback through smartphones and to provide detailed reports about tasks. Consequently, our solution provides a smart wearable device (earpods) and a digital portal to help people track their mental well-being. The primary focus of our solution is on ADHD and depression disorders.
