Primary school students wear fun hats to help maintain social distance

About the solution

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, special safety measures had to be implemented in order for society to be able to continue to function while preventing the spread of the new coronavirus. In schools, many of which had to close for several weeks due to the pandemic, the biggest concern after re-opening was how to encourage students to maintain social distancing, especially in the case of small children. But on school in China developed an innovative solution to this problem.

Yangzheng Primary School asked students to make special hats prior to returning back to school. The hats have two long flats on top, like wings that extended 1 meter wide across the head.
The hats were made from common craft material and each child was free to decorate their own design, with some including feathers, rainbows, leaves or ballons.

"We're advocating students to wear a one-meter hat and maintain one meter's distance", explained Hong Feng, principal of the school.

The design was inspired by a typical headpiece worn by court officials during the Song Dynasty, between the years of 960 and 1270
