Mother develops Asthma kit for her son

Shared by Merle Schlottmann on 2017-04-04 11:40

About the solution

Sabine Engel, a German mother, developed a first aid kit for her son Benedikt, who is restricted in his daily life due to Asthma attacks.

To instruct other people how to help her son in case of Asthma attacks, the design of the kit was adapted to laymen. It consists of an illustrated instruction how to help in emergencies, crucial medication and the power of attorney.

“The teachers did not know how to help him, so they either sent him home, called me to pick him up or even called the ambulance to take him to a hospital”, Benedikt’s mother says.

Assisted by start-up experts from the Social Impact Lab Duisburg, it took her three years to develop the kit.

“I feel safer now, also in everyday life. When you have it in your bag, you always know that you have an additional asthma inhaler with you”, confesses the boy.

She wants to establish a foundation, using a certain amount of each sold product to support projects like trainings at schools to educate teachers how to deal with chronic diseases.

But it will take some time until the product is available on the market.
