About the solution
SUVE is a chatbot created to automatically answer people’s questions about the coronavirus pandemic, in real time.
It was created by the eeBot team, during the “Hack the Crisis” hackathon, organized in March 2020 by Garage48 and Accelerate Estonia. The team is made up of volunteers with expertise in the fields of IT, marketing, assistance to foreigners, etc.
“The idea of a nationwide chatbot had been in people’s minds already before the crisis, but the hackathon gave us a real chance to bring it to life very quickly,” said Michaela Snopkova, leader of the eeBot team.
The chatbot was commissioned by the Estonian government and has been added to several official websites like the Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.
The main objectives of Suve, according to the official website, are:
- help with official information during the emergency situation
- be easily embedded into public websites
- help to keep emergency phone lines open
- help prevent the spread of fake news
The chatbot answers the questions with information provided by the official authorities, in English, Estonian and Russian. SUVE uses Artificial Inteligence to keep improving itself, increasing the number of questions it can answer. Frequently asked questions include, “What are the coronavirus symptoms?” and “Where can I get tested for the coronavirus?”
