About the solution

Yogi is a professor and the Director of the Clean Energy Research Center at the University of South Florida. His son Dilip suffers from asthma. Yogi searched for existing solutions, but the products he found solved the problem of poor indoor air quality by filtering the air. But the professor concluded that this method was not efficient.

He created Molekule, the world's first air purifier that completely destroys harmful pollutants, permanently removing them from the air the person breathes. The device is portable, quiet, energy efficient and the filters are replaceable. "Molekule comes with two filters: a Pre-Filter and a Nano-Filter. The Pre-Filter captures larger particles such as dust and pet hair, while the Nano-Filter is coated by our proprietary catalyst that breaks down pollutants at a molecular level when activated by light", says on the official website.

Yogi and his sons (including Dilip) founded their own company and patented the technology. Molekule costs 799 dollars and can be bought online. The invention has made to the 2017 list of Time's top 25 inventions.
