Woman made improvised pockets for her crutches

Shared by Ana Ramalho on 2014-06-05 16:53

About the solution

As she walked from room to room in her house, she wanted a big pocket to carry a book or her paper notebook. She created improvised pockets made of thin cardboard video tape boxes, covered in tape. They’re anchored firmly to the cross bar and the sides of the crutches, so they don’t flop around like some cloth and velcro pockets.

Few years later she posted a photo of her crutches pockets on her blog. It was picked up by Life Hacks and a lot of people saw the photo and read about this innovation that can really make a difference in people's with mobility problems lives.

About the author

Liz Henry, from USA, is a blogger with disabilities who started developing some "life hacks" in 1997. She had gone from cane to wheelchair to cane again, and then she needed crutches over the winter. She created improvised pockets and add them to her crutches so she can walk from room to room in her house taking things with her.
