About the solution
Joshua was frustrated because of the problems he had to face while getting on and off the plane when going abroad with physical reduced mobility. He felt that they could be at least partially solved. So he took action, as he was tired of waiting for transferring equipment and specialist assistance when flying.
So after five months of research and development, Joshua came up with Able Move, in 2018. It consists of a device “between a sling and a seat” that can be hoisted in and out of a wheelchair and plane seats.
“It allows you to have that freedom of not having to worry. There’s a cushion so you remain comfortable when you’re on the plane and from personal experience getting on and off those aisle chairs is so uncomfortable that having support under you is going to make that whole transition and flying experience much more enjoyable”, he explained.
Joshua founded his own company, in 2018, around this product. It can be bought online from £384.99 and the person can customise its order by selecting to the product’s cushion size and height.
Able Move was the winner of the Stelios Award for Disabled Entrepreneurs 2018.
