About the solution
“IndeeLift was founded to help solve a real problem. Many people fall and are unable to get up from the floor. The last couple of years of his life were pretty tough. He fell many times and it became a major ordeal to get him up from the floor. This problem serendipitously lead me to develop a solution to address his problem. The Human Floor Lift can help others who fall and are unable to get up from the floor without assistance”, the inventor explained.
For using the lift, the caregiver must take the device to the location of the fall. Then the patient scoots onto the seat, and the lift is activated, raising the person. It takes about one minute to lift the patient to the wheelchair of other surface.
Because Steve’s parents lived apart, and were often falling, he searched for solutions on the market, so they could get up without assistance, but he wasn’t able to find anything. So Steve decided to take action: “I accepted the challenge and began designing a device that would help my parents. Beginning in January, 2014, I built the first test models and after a half a dozen tries, I had a working model”, he said.
Steve found a manufacturer to bring his design to reality, and then he founded his own company.
