About the solution
Peta, a first-time mother from Newcastle, Australia, faced a challenging journey with her daughter Indie, who struggled with multiple health issues from birth. Indie's conditions included Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, Cow's Milk Protein Allergy, and feeding difficulties due to tongue and lip tie issues, leading to constant pain and sleep problems.
Despite seeking medical help, Peta and her husband felt helpless until they found a Pediatric Gastroenterologist who improved Indie's health. However, Indie's sleep issues persisted, and Peta's singing was the only effective soothing method.
This led to the development of Koolá's Sing to Sleep™ Technology, where Peta recorded her voice to comfort Indie during sleep. This method not only improved Indie's sleep but also had surprising benefits for babies' neurological development.
Peta discovered that babies can hear and remember their parents' voices and songs from the womb. Expectant mothers could strengthen their bond with their unborn child by singing to them during pregnancy. This maternal voice proved superior to white noise for babies' language development.
To share these benefits, Peta created the Koolá™ Doll, a linen doll with maternal voice recordings, reflecting Australian culture and appealing to all children. Inspired by attachment theory, it became a comforting companion for infants and children alike.
Peta's journey from Indie's birth to the creation of the Koolá™ Doll showcases determination, innovation, and inspiration. Her goal is to bring comfort and improved sleep to families worldwide through the power of the maternal voice and attachment-based principles. Financial support helped turn her innovation into a reality for countless families.
