Joint Academy- how a dad and his son are changing the treatment for osteoarthritis

Shared by Carolina Piedade on 2022-05-21 02:43

About the solution

After much research, Leif began to encounter many patients that were being treated for osteoarthritis with high-risk and expensive measures and at the same time, the overall access to care was limited. When he shared his concerns with his son, Jakob Dahlberg, they began to think on how they could improve patient care and outcome, by tackling these problems.

This is when they understood that by translating a clinically-proven face-to-face treatment program to a digital platform, with focus on exercise and education, all while having a good network of licensed physical therapists working alongside to support them, meant that they could make an important contribution to improving the overall health of patients. Taking all into consideration Leif and Jakob came up with Joint Academy. This is an all-in-one solution for treating back and chronic joint pain where physical therapists tailor the treatment to the patient needs.

It reduces the costs of therapy, and makes it more approachable. It has 3 major focus: personal physical therapy (1-on-1 support from a licensed physical therapist ), exercises/physical activities and a focus on progress tracking. Today more than 100,000 patients to have been treated for their chronic joint pain with Joint Academy.
