Students create 3D printed device to help boy play the violin

Shared by Ana Duarte on 2018-06-14 10:24

About the solution

The students came up with a solution that works by attaching a 3D printed plastic pad to Julian’s violin bow, which he grips before attaching a Velcro strap to hold it in place.
Julian always wanted to be a violinist in the school band. While learning how to play, he was able to pluck the strings but it was harder for him when he had to use the bow, playing faster and crossing all the strings.

That’s when his teacher stepped in and started looking for solutions to help him hold the bow in an easier way.

“At first, he didn’t want any help. He’s the kind of kid who always wants to do it himself… But I told him there will be challenges you don’t see as a beginner, which will materialize as he gets more advanced. I thought of using a Velcro wrap and wrapping his hand, but he really couldn’t maneuver it,” she explained.
After caming across to e-NABLE (non-profit organization that creates 3D printed prosthetics) she got in touch with with three first-year Master of Biomedical Studies students from Drexel University; Alex Hahn, Kimanthi Gicovi and Tyler Bogaczyk.

Julian presented them his needs and limitations and that led to the creation of a 3D printed customized device.

You can move the pad around wherever you need it… It was good at first, but still a little bit hard to maneuver. After a while, it got easier to use. I like it”, the boy said.

I set to work on an assignment last year with my senior design students essay help here at CHAD that helped gain some other student with whom they did now not realize, nor had they ever met in the individual. This student’s call becomes Sara and she has Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy. Sara is nonverbal and makes use of adaptive technology, an iGaze computer unit, to interact with the sector.

Get as many chicks as you can in your school / university, be the best in the school basketball or soccer team, cheat in the tests, trust me, it's very useful. This does not mean you should not learn or something, just try to manage your time, and concentrate on fun rather than school, at least on the objects you do not really need (for example, why do I need the story? go to medicine, I've already learned the "general" historical material, etc.)
