Mother invents ear correctors for her daughter

Shared by Ana Duarte on 2017-05-09 11:09

About the solution

Otostick Baby® consists of a small, practically invisible silicone prosthesis which keeps the ear close to the head using a specially developed hypoallergenic adhesive. It is discreet, painless and does not require a prescription.

Francisca had the idea for this innovation in 2007, after she used other products and because she didn’t want her daughter to have surgery. The mother was concerned that her young daughter's ears were becoming very prominent due to often being folded as she slept. She began to use plasters to hold them in place, then tried several other products but, while she saw improvement, she found them fiddly and difficult to use.

"I had tried some other products, some tweezers that sold in the pharmacy, but it was all very small and not very effective”, the inventor explained.

So the took action and created her own product. Francisca was unemployed at the time, and she created the prototype with the help of some universities.

Each single-use corrector can remain in place for up to seven days if correctly applied. The user can even bathe, swim and carry on with all its usual daily activities. They can be used as needed, are painless to remove and have no side effects or irreversible effects.

Otostick® can be used from three years old and above.

After three years of research and development, Francisca got a patent and started commercializing the product by founding her own company - Innovations Disras.

Otostick Baby® is registered as a Medical Device Class 1 throughout the EU.

The Otostick Baby® can be bought online for 22€.
