About the solution
Because Claire was constantly having to do blood tests, Melanie created an innovative solution so that these tests could be performed more quickly and easily, anywhere, anytime. SmartMed Case is connected to a mobile app that allows the data to be recorded and sent to the doctor.
So, after five years of research and development, she came up with a hand-held prototype of a 3D-printing blood-testing device. It can perform multiple blood tests in real time when linked to a smartphone via the app. The innovation is being patented.
This solution allows chronically ill patients to receive blood analysis at appropriate frequencies without going to a hospital or clinic where hospital-related illnesses are a threat to their already-weakened immune systems.
After getting investment, Melanie founded her company, Blaire Biomedical, around this gadget. “The company is named after her daughters and has one clear vision: To empower patients with handheld medical technology. The company is family-focused and aims to allow patients to have a choice about when and where blood tests take place. Currently, the product can perform multiple blood tests and will, in the future, be used to provide patients’ complete blood cell counts to physicians in real time with nothing but a small case and a cell phone app”, it says of the official website.
Claire is alive and well, living a healthy and happy life.
