About the solution
Nikki Puzzo, inspired by her daughter Stella's post-surgery challenges and fueled by her ingenuity, embarked on a journey that transformed a personal necessity into a groundbreaking venture. Following Stella's double hip surgery, Nikki was confronted with the impracticality of conventional clothing options recommended by doctors for her daughter's recovery. Determined to find a better solution, she ingeniously modified a pair of pants with Velcro, creating adaptive clothing that not only facilitated Stella's recovery but also garnered praise from medical professionals.
Recognizing the widespread need for such innovative garments, Nikki shared her creation with her friend Joanne DiCamillo, and together they founded "befree," an adaptive clothing company aimed at providing practical and inclusive fashion solutions. Their flagship product, the modified pants, not only offered independence to wearers but also eased the dressing process for caregivers. The versatility of the garments extends beyond medical applications, proving valuable in various daily activities, including workouts.
Stella's experience with cerebral palsy served as a driving force behind Nikki's vision for Befree. Witnessing the profound impact of adaptive clothing on Stella's life and recovery, Nikki was compelled to make their solution accessible to all. With a mission to mainstream inclusive fashion and eliminate barriers, befree strives to empower individuals with disabilities to pursue their passions without constraints.
Befree embodies a commitment to inclusivity and empowerment, demonstrating that with determination and innovation, challenges can be transformed into opportunities for positive change. Through their pioneering efforts, Nikki, Joanne, and the Befree team inspire individuals to embrace their capabilities and live life without limits.
