About the solution
Joe was diagnosed with diabetes when he was 13 years old. Because he found it hard to manage his condition, and he always had a lot of equipment to carry around, he invented an all in one case, also because we couldn’t find one on the market.
“I found it really hard to adjust to being a diabetic. It wasn't just having to test, inject, and keep to a strict diet that was difficult. The fact of suddenly having to deal with this problem that I’d never had before, and which wasn’t going to go away, was a real shock! Getting a handle on diabetes was pretty tricky for the first year or so”, he explained.
Joe's product has four main features:
Small Size - It is one of the smallest available on the market at only 6.25" x 4.25" x 1.5" (165 x 105 x 35mm), and can fit into a suit pocket.
Large Capacity - It will carry all the diabetic supplies and equipment necessary for 24 hours' worth of treatment.
Practical - Joe's Small-in-one is made from durable nylon, has a belt loop, and an ID holder. In addition, it is washable at 40 degrees.
Versatile - Joe's Small-in-one will carry the vast majority of glucose meters available. Testing has so far shown that the following meters will fit.
Joe also wrote a book about living with diabetes, which got publish in 2006 - “Joe’s Rough Guide to Diabetes”.
"I must say I am not a doctor and I am not trying to tell you how to live; in some ways I’m still learning, and in the end you are the only one who can manage your diabetes. But if you are willing to accept that responsibility, I can help you take control and lead the life you deserve", he said.
