About the solution
JC Sheitan Tenet, a tattoo artists, lost his right arm when he was a child. JC was right-handed, so he had to learn how to perform tasks such as drawing and tattooing with his left arm. It was not easy for the tattooing artist to teach himself and to draw and tattoo using his non dominant arm. However, it didn’t get on the way of his dream of becoming a tattoo artist.
When he met JL Gonzal, he asked him to help create a tattooing prosthetic arm so that he could be able to use his right arm again, but just for the fun of it. Together they came up with a tattoing prosthetic arm, which consists of a mechanical arm that has an ordinary electrical tattoo device on the elbow.
“I met JL Gonzal, a sculptor, and asked him for a kinetic sculpture based on an old prosthesis I didn’t used anymore; a steampunk tattoo arm just for fun because I have been tattooing without a prosthesis for the last eight years. He created the biomechanical arm and I decided to try it. I tried it on a friend during a few minutes of shading. It was very fun but very difficult due to the weight and size, so I immediately decided to work with JL Gonzal on a more efficient prototype 2 that will come soon, I hope”, JC explained.
Gonzal mounted a tattoo machine onto an old prosthetic arm, adding parts of a mechanical typewriter and a gramophone. The arm is safe to wear and the tattooing parts are disposable.
The gadget doesn’t have any specific advantages or disadvantages compared to using a more traditional tattooing device.
