A support platform for survivors of sexual assault

Sexual assault is a devastating crime with profound consequences that extend far beyond the initial act. Victims often endure physical injuries, emotional trauma, and long-lasting psychological scars. The after effects can include feelings of shame, guilt, and fear, leading to struggles with trust and intimacy. According to studies conducted by organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men experience sexual violence during their lifetime.

A Rwandan social entrepreneur focused on improving reproductive, maternal and child health in Africa.

Social stigmas and cultural taboos surrounding menstruation exacerbate the issue of girls and women missing school and work in Rwanda. According to research conducted in 2016 by Sustainable Health Enterprises, 18% of women and girls in Rwanda are unable to attend work or school because they cannot afford menstrual pads. The repercussions of this silenced discourse on women's bodies and the consequent absenteeism from school during menstruation have been further heightened by the pandemic.

Tough to Swallow: a single-player board game that replicates the experience of having an eating disorder

Eating disorders are behavioral conditions characterized by severe and persistent disturbance in eating behaviors and associated distressing thoughts and emotions.
Taken together, they affect up to 5% of the population, and most often develop in adolescence and young adulthood.

Christine decided to create a board game that simulates the tumultuous and complicated journey of someone who suffers from an eating disorder, all based on her own personal experience.

A personalized and unique calendar made for those with low vision

Edward suffers from a disease called retinitis pigmentosa which causes decreasing of peripheral vision and light sensitivity. This makes simple tasks, like reading your average size grocery list, impossible without assistive technology.
