About the solution
UnaliWear was created to help older adults live safely and independently. The journey began when Jean Anne Booth, a serial entrepreneur, saw her 80-year-old mother struggling to stay safe while maintaining her independence. Determined to find a better way, she developed the Kanega Watch, a device designed for vulnerable and aging populations.
The Kanega Watch features a patented battery system that ensures it remains on all day and night without needing to be removed for charging. This continuous operation is crucial, as the number one cause of injury or death among seniors is falling, often occurring in the bathroom at night. Unlike other devices that require overnight charging, the Kanega Watch stays functional when seniors are most vulnerable.
UnaliWear collaborates with families and caregivers to provide a reliable safety net for seniors. The watch connects through cellular, Wi-Fi, and GPS, and can link to hearing aids and other health devices. It uses artificial intelligence for motion detection, voice recognition, and location tracking to understand the wearer’s daily activities. If something unusual occurs, such as a fall, the watch detects it and notifies a medical alarm center. Instead of immediately contacting emergency services, the watch first checks if the wearer needs urgent help or just assistance, respecting their privacy and dignity. By providing continuous monitoring and intelligent response systems, UnaliWear helps prevent accidents and gives both users and their families peace of mind.
