About the solution
Hannah had her first maniac episode when she was 21. “I was writing an essay about dictionaries and went off on a hallucination where I thought I had special powers. I called my mother and told her I’d gone to space then come back down. The ambulance men came and I was hospitalised”, she recalled.
Then she realised she needed to collect her thoughts. She used her phone for this purpose and that led to the idea of creating an app especially for this. With the help of her husband, Tex Dunstan, she created Mental Snapp, which she describes as a “therapist in your pocket”.
The app allows people to record video diaries, either free-form or in response to guided exercises and to get in touch with a community of users while helping users learning skills to be happier.
The user can choose how to share the videos: they can be private or open for a clinical team, mentors and friends. The user can track its mood by using a colour scale or emojis.
Hannah and Tex founder their own company around this software.
The app is free and available for iOS and Android.
