About the solution
Karen was 13 when she was told she had cancer. It was a type of blood cancer that involved a very tough treatment. The life of the 13-year-old was suddenly filled with chemotherapy, infections, hospital stays and bags of blood that hung over her in bed.
"It was very unpleasant to lie there and know that the blood of someone else would enter your own body. It's a very uncomfortable feeling. In addition, one can respond to blood transfusions so I have to know. Then there was a lot of focus on this bag.", Karen said. The friend Aurora Michaelsen visited Karen many times in the hospital, and also noticed the blood bags well. "When I visited her it was very unpleasant to see them. You do not want to be reminded that someone is sick, but with those bags you remember it right away."
So a nurse eventually knitted a cover to cover the blood bag. That was when Karen got a bright idea, that this could be offered at other hospitals - and thus helping other children who were sick. When she got well, she and four other friends started the student company EB Bravest, and started a collaboration with Kongsvinger prison.
"We see a great potential in this product. In addition, we see that we help very many children and have the opportunity to make everyday life better for many children. We have great pleasure from what we do" says Karen.
