Young man with dairy intolerance develops line of protein bars

Shared by Rita Torrao on 2018-09-18 16:12

About the solution

Daniel was diagnosed with lactose intolerance when he was 18. Living a busy Daniel as an entrepreneur, he failed to find a healthy option of protein bars. This was the trigger he needed to create the No Cow Bar, a 100 percent natural, 100 percent vegan and no artificial sweeteners protein bar.

“I basically decided to create the world’s healthiest protein bar and that’s what I did,” Daniel said.

Daniel created the nutritional and ingredient profiles he wanted for his product and partnered with a formulation team. He said he broke down each nutrition fact and determined the exact amount he wanted in the bar.

“I literally played around in my kitchen with a blender and a variety of ingredients until I created something that I thought could work – it wasn’t great initially – but it worked for what I needed!”, he described.

The No Cow Bar is dairy-,soy- and gluten-free, low in carbohydrates and extremely high in protein and fiber. There are only one to two grams of naturally occurring sugar in each bar. No Cow has expanded and the products offered also include protein infused nut butter (Fluffbutter) and protein cookies.

"We’re exploring options to prove ourselves in other categories where we can ultimately be a big player in the dairy-free, low-sugar, high protein market and be the trusted brand for anybody looking for those three things.", Daniel said.

In 2017, a partnership between No Cow and General Mills and 2x Partners was created, enabling Daniel’s company to access a wide variety of resources and to get a bigger team.
