About the solution
The signpost used by this system allows to recognize the space as a reference in accessibility and to provide information on the current state of accessibility conditions of the place, and can be used in various situations (ex: in the door of the establishment, in the tourism platform of the city, tourism platforms Accessible, event posters, social networks, etc ...).
"The disabled people, sensory or cognitive are not incapable, nor are they closed at home, hidden from the world as in other times," complains Luís Filipe Silva, whose wife has been moving in a wheelchair since a run-in has taken away her autonomy.
Hugo and Luís want to make Portugal more accessible to everyone. According to data collected by them, one out of five Portuguese people search, daily, for acessibilities to perform their regular activities.
"The autonomy does not have to be limited because we move in a wheelchair or because we are blind or deaf," explained Hugo, who was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at the age of four. With a degree in Economics and a master's degree in Innovation and Technological Entrepreneurship, he studied the issue of mobility within the framework of an academic project that contemplated the creation of a mobility systems rental service that even won some entrepreneurship awards. "I realized, however, that the project did not work without accessibility and that's where Places4All was born”.
This social entrepreneurship project consists of an evaluation system based on four parameters:
- Access (including parking and public transport, for example);
- Exterior (here ramps or obstacles are evaluated, among others);
- Internal route (besides mobility, Visual or sound information);
- Goods and services - which give rise to a rating of 0 to 100 and which will be disclosed as a "seal of quality" of the sites. Among the 55 sites already evaluated throughout the country are the Eurest service areas on motorways, the Electricity Museum, Oceanarium, EDP, World of Discoveries or the Clérigos Tower, among others.
