About the solution
When François Gérard's father was diagnosed with an incurable neurodegenerative disease called ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), he went on a crusade to search for every solution in order to give him the best care possible, in any possible alleyway available.
During this research, François and his family regularly encountered the limitations of traditional home help, which could not always meet the flexible and individual needs of his father, but at the same time, the warm support of a neighbor who regularly offered him a hand with all sorts of small daily tasks was making a lasting impression on everyone.
This sparked something within François head, and lead him to start Helpper from scratch!
Helpper is an online platform designed for tasks and chores that are usually beyond the reach of professional care services - such as shopping, a trip to the doctor, small chores or just for some quality time to share experiences, emotions and sometimes even friendship. In exchange, the "helppers'' (the one that helps) receive a modest financial remuneration. With the support of thorough screening, Helpper finds the best matches between the helppies (people needing help) and the helppers.
Today Helpper is becoming one of the largest home assistance players in Flanders & Brussels, a community of over 25.000 helppers.
