About the solution
In-Range Animation is an innovative response to the challenges faced by individuals with Type 1 diabetes, especially young adults navigating a complex and often intimidating healthcare environment. Founded by Neil and Suzie Israel, the project stems from Neil’s 43 years of personal experience with Type 1 diabetes and his frustration with traditional, fear-based education that often lacks empathy and engagement. Suzie, an artist and software developer, joined forces with Neil to create short, animated videos that simplify complex concepts and make diabetes education more accessible and relatable.
Initially, the couple focused on creating videos for companies producing diabetes-related products, helping them educate and guide their users effectively. They also collaborated with organizations aiming to improve health literacy among people with diabetes. Building on this foundation, In-Range Animation is now expanding its efforts by developing a mobile app that directly shares their educational videos.
By 2022, their project had gained significant traction, producing impactful videos for organizations like JDRF Texas and creating training materials for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) resellers. Today, their app includes over 30 educational videos, interactive tools, and plans for AI-powered smart search functionality. This two-pronged approach not only enhances individual education but also provides scalable solutions for clinics and insurers.
The company operates within StartUp Health, a global network supporting health startups with resources, mentorship, and connections to scale their innovations. Through this support, In-Range Animation is transforming diabetes education into an empowering and engaging experience, moving away from fear-based methods to foster proactive self-management.
