Lips Painted Blue - An Animated Series

About the solution

Following his Masters of Science in Medical Sciences program and just before starting medical school, Sean decided to poll children with pulmonary hypertension and their parents to see if a cartoon series would be beneficial. That is when Lips Painted Blue was born, and after being funded by the Tom Lantos Innovations in Community Service Award from the Pulmonary Hypertension Association the cartoon series was released in November of 2014.

The series is composed of four short videos that go through symptoms, diagnosis, treatment including some of what to expect and how to accept the "new normal." The videos are accessible currently though the internet at http://www.lipspaintedblue.com. A mobile application is currently under development to be released soon.

About the author

In 2002, on his 19th birthday, Sean Wyman was diagnosed with a rare lung disease called pulmonary hypertension. At the time, there were only two FDA approved treatments and very little was known about the condition. Over the years, more and more resources were made available, but one demographic was frequently looked over, the children.
