About the solution
Pokemon Go is a free-to-play location-based augmented reality mobile app game, released on July 2016. The game accesses a smartphone's GPS and camera to allow players to explore their surroundings in search of more than 100 Pokemon creatures. Features within the game include "Pokestops" — where users collect items they can use — and gyms, which are larger landmarks that users battle to control.
J.J. Bouchard, digital media manager, and certified child life specialist at the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, says that young patients used to wander alone at the hallways, without speaking to each other, but now they stop and talk thanks to the game.
Jennifer Griggs, mother of Braylon, 11, who is at the hospital receiving treatment for an inoperable brain tumor, both recently downloaded the the game and started playing there.
According to J.J. Bouchard, there are several Pokesposts in the hospital. Patients stop and help each other pose for a picture with the pokemon at the spot.
