About the solution
Maysa Talerd, a single mother from Thailand, has created a way to make face shields appealing for children. During the Covid-19 pandemic, health authorities all over the world were encouraging their citizens to wear face masks and/or protective shields – specially in the case of small children, for whom face shields are easier to wear than face masks. However, even face shields could be hard for children to wear for long periods of time.
So, Maysa thought that, by adding stickers of famous fictional character to the shields, children would be more inclined to wear them. “At least with the cartoon characters, kids will want to wear them and show off to their friends at school.”
Maysa, who had lost all her income during the quarantine, is now designing and manufacturing these face shields from her small studio room. She carefully presses the stickers on the outside of the shields, with images of superheros, villains and figures of Thai folklore.
