About the solution
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, healthcare workers all over the world where working their hardest and making personal sacrifices in order to fight this disease. Many of these professionals had to leave their homes to temporarily relocate to areas where they were needed, and many others were concerned that they would infect their loved ones by going home.
To support these professionals, a group of volunteers in Portugal created a housing platform, Rooms Against Covid-19, dedicated to provide temporary housing for healthcare workers that cannot go home during these difficult times of crisis. The project of created through the Tech4Covid19 movement, that gathers more than 100 volunteers in an effort to created solution to all the challenges brought by Covid-19.
The Rooms Against Covid-19 project quickly gathered the support of high-profile institutions, including Portugal’s Tourism Office and Portugal’s Hotel Association. In the first days after launched, there were more than 1000 rooms available in the platform, in 5 different cities, and they received more than 400 request for housing.
At the platform’s website you can read a message of gratitude: “To all the healthcare professional working hard in the current times we say: Thank you!”.
