About the solution
Medical professionals generally consider that surgery is the only way to correct funnel chest. However, the invention of a father has changed the perspective of many doctors.
Feng Ge’s son was born with funnel chest. The doctor suggested a surgery to correct the symptom. However, Feng Ge felt that the surgery was traumatic and painful for a small kid. As an engineer, he believed that with adequate external force, the depression of the sternum could possibly be corrected using a sucker-shaped device considering that, because the bones of young kids are relatively soft and growing rapidly, re-shaping might be possible.
Feng Ge soon designed a suction device especially for his son, who was requested to wear it every day. After a few months of perseverance, the result was surprising - his son’s sternum had almost become flat, without causing any harm to the skin. His son’s doctor and other medical professionals also commented that the device is “unbelievable” and “amazingly effective”.
As the effectiveness is validated, Feng Ge has applied for a patent for his invention. The news was also heard by other parents who have kids with funnel chest, and they contacted Feng Ge because they would like to try the sucker to correct their kids’ symptoms as well. Feng Ge’s invention has proved to be very effective, even for asymmetric funnel chests, and has helped a few dozens of kids have normal thoraxes.
In 2014, Feng Ge established a company, along with 8 engineers and a few medical advisors, and the group has further improved the suction device for funnel chest correction and launched several models for patients with different body shapes and ages. The product is patented and has obtained the SGS certificate (Switherland), and now parents can conveniently consult them for professional treatment plans and buy the suction cup through the online store.
