About the solution
Damaris Silva is a 26 year-old nurse at the Hospital El Pino, in Santiago, Chile. During the Covid-19 pandemic, after her shifts end, walks through the corridors, playing music for the patients.
Twice a week, at 6 p.m, she takes out her violin and plays a mix of popular Latin songs and, for a couple of hours, tries to bring joy to the patients, some of whom have been hospitalized for a long time, and also her exhausted colleagues. "(I'm) delivering a little bit of love, delivering a little bit of faith, a little bit of hope with my violin -- which perhaps is something more than the music. It's not just a song, but rather every time I do it, I do it from my heart", Damaris said in an interview
And she is receiving very positive feedback from her audience, as she explains “As soon as I walk in the patients brighten, they seem happier; they smile and applaud”. And even her colleagues feel very grateful to her, for bringing music into the hospital. Like her co-worker Jose Luis, which called her gesture “something that is really beautiful”.
