About the solution
Sexual assault is a devastating crime with profound consequences that extend far beyond the initial act. Victims often endure physical injuries, emotional trauma, and long-lasting psychological scars. The after effects can include feelings of shame, guilt, and fear, leading to struggles with trust and intimacy. According to studies conducted by organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men experience sexual violence during their lifetime. These figures highlight the urgent need for comprehensive prevention and support systems to address this pervasive issue.
Eiriel De Roxas went through a horrifying experience of sexual assault during her time at university. When she gathered the courage to report the incident and seek support, she was met with an overwhelming barrage of information and faced relentless questioning. This experience left her feeling completely isolated and drained, both physically and emotionally.
In 2019, she started developing LOG, a mobile application that monitors your everyday life as you recover from a sexual assault. It's designed to help you track your progress and guide you in reclaiming your stride, showing that you can indeed get back on your feet, one step at a time.
The app offers several key features, including a DAILY LOG, which serves as a journaling method aiding in emotion tracking, finding daily positivity, reflecting on experiences, and setting self-improvement goals. Another feature is THE VAULT, functioning as a digital safe for storing crucial information such as incident records, police reports, and evidence, ensuring they remain secure and accessible whenever needed, empowering users to take action on their own terms. Additionally, the app includes a survivor network, connecting individuals from various campuses interested in collaborating to identify repeat offenders and strengthen cases for reporting.
The app hasn't been launched yet, but you can sign up for the waiting list to be among the first to know when it becomes available.
