When COVID hit, Mattia Marco Caruson became so afraid of getting it that he could not stop looking for any piece of information available, not only medically relevant but also experience-based opinions. For Mattia and many people worldwide, the unknown of this disease was an anxiety pit that didn't allow them to look forward and comprehend correctly what could come their way, even if all the medical information was available to them.

Thus, before a person goes through it, they can't understand the struggles and challenges of the disease itself, be it COVID19 or any other chronic disease.

This motivates patients, every day and everywhere, to use online communities to look for information and connect to others like them - however, they don't find the support they seek, either due to information getting lost, or even due to the fact that sometimes there is misleading peer advice, where an opinion can be perceived as medical advice.

Mattia and his team found this to be a problem to which they could develop a solution, and this is how Mama Health came to life! This website enables people with chronic conditions to take control of their own health stories, by finding others like them and collectively generate new insights to advance the understanding of their disease.

Individual users can input their story using a range of pre-selected events and express their thoughts as if they were telling a story to a friend using free text. The platform then uses AI to analyze these data elements in a structured way which generates results that are then displayed in an aggregate dashboard to show what happened for others at the same steps of the care journey.
