About the solution

Amit was left quadriplegic after a car crash in 1997 and his innovation resulted from wondering how and why the wheelchair was the only solution that allowed paraplegic people to move around. “I could not realize how come towards the end of the 20th century disabled people have no other solution other than a wheel chair”, he stated.
In 2001 Amit, then 30 years old, came up with the first ReWalk prototype in his garage. The first prototype was well succeeded, being the first of its kind to make paralyzed people walk.
“Rewalk’s unique feature is the user’s full control over the system. The walk is intuitive and there is no need to stop and figure out the next step. The user presses the “stop” button only before climbing up or down the stairs. At first he or she presses: “stand” mode and than picks “up” or “down” and goes on”, the entrepreneur explained.
In August 2008, ReWalk clinical trials were completed with great success in Israel. Then, ReWalk was starting to get to Europe and USA. After FDA approval, ReWalk has been mentioned all over the news, even in a popular TV series in USA.
