About the solution
Startup company Estimote has developed a new line of wearable devices, designed to monitor the proximity and contact level between employees at their workplace. These devices are meant to be an addition to social distancing measures and help control the transmission of the new coronavirus between coworkers who share a physical workspace.
The line of devices, called “Proof of Health”, includes GPS tracing and proximity sensors that scan for other devices and registers close interactions. The devices have led indicator that inform the user when they get too close to another person. Moreover, they record the health status of the user, which can be updated in case of infection. All the information is stored on a database so, if someone changes their health status to infected, it is possible to trace every coworker who came into close proximity with the person infected and activate the appropriate health and security measures. All the information is stored anonymously – only when someone reports an infection is then generated a list of every other employee who was potentially exposed.
At the moment, the company has started production for the first version, a small device meant to be clipped to a ribbon and worn around the neck, but they are also working on other version, like a wristband and a card format.
