About the solution
Lisandro Sona was born with spina bifida. Spina bifida is a birth defect that occurs when the spine and spinal cord don't form properly. If the spina bifida is severe, it can lead to significant physical disabilities.
Due to the disease, Lisandro has always needed to use a wheelchair to dislocate himself.
That inspired his cousin, Simon Lunari, who grew up together with Lisandro, to invent a special bike with a wheelchair attached. With the help of a local blacksmith, Ariel Birche, his idea became a reality. This allows Simon to drive with his cousin through the village.
The bike’s wheels can be turned not only using foot pedals, but also with a special mechanism for hands. This allows Lisandro to also contribute to the movement of the vehicle, when the cousins are driving together.
