About the solution
When Eric and Sandy’s son almost died from an allergic reaction, they made sure to always keep an Epipen nearby in case of emergency. However, the Epipen is extremely sensitive and must stay near room temperature. This made the couple constantly worry about the Epipen becoming ruined, on top of worrying about their son suffering an allergic reaction.
"This meant that a lot of our favorite outdoor activities were out of the question. That’s not the kind of life I wanted for him, which is why we created MedShell", Sandy explained.
Eric’s engineering training enabled the couple to work together in creating Medshell, a case that protects Epipens from hot and cold temperatures, allowing anyone with allergies to take their Epipen anywhere, regardless of whether it is hotter than 30º or colder than 15ºC. The device works through a system within the case releasing heat when it’s cold outside, and absorbing heat when it is too hot, using advanced Medcells.
Their invention has allowed their son to bring his Epipen with him everywhere, whilst continuing to lead an active lifestyle.
Eric and Sandy recognized the value of this creation for their family, and are eager to use it to help others, having founded their own company.
“After first building a MedShell prototype to help our son, the process of bringing Medshell to market to help other people is nearly complete", the inventor expressed.
The MedShell is available for pre-order at $35.
