Men invent human backpack to carry their friend

Ana Duarte 于 2017-02-01 14:42 分享

About the solution

Kevan lost the strength in his limbs due to his condition, and he always wanted to travel around Europe. Because he weights about 30kgs, his friends designed a special backpack so they would be able to carry him, without he having to use his wheelchair.

The device features padding, a headrest and a saddle. The team went to France, Ireland and England in the summer of 2016. His friends would take shifts while carrying Kevan.

“My friends and I explored Paris, hiked through the English countryside, and scaled the legendary island of Skellig Michael. And we did it all without my wheelchair! Using a specially designed backpack, my friends carried me where I could otherwise never go. It was incredible! And now we want to make that possible for other disabled folks", Kevan recalled.

The “We Carry Kevan” team is working on a book and a documentary to show that disabled people can also live adventures.
