Detecting Concussions with the Microsoft Kinect

Eric Solender 于 2015-12-15 17:57 分享

About the solution

I am developing a solution to detect concussions using the motion tracking and voice recognition power of the the Microsoft Kinect. This solution tests reaction time, memory, and general cognitive ability of the patient being tested. Then, through the power of machine learning, the test can predict if the patient is actually concussed. The project will eventually expand so that it can put in a portable unit for use to test at sporting events, in ambulances and even medical helicopters. There is also a system being developed for doctors to view the progress of a patients recovery over time. This test will cost absolutely nothing to private individuals for download on the Xbox One and Windows Store. Licencing will also be available in the coming years for other entity's once the test gains FDA approval.

关于发明者

When I was 14 I suffered a severe concussion playing basketball. At first neither I nor my doctors knew how bad it actually was. Within weeks I was diagnosed with a severe concussion. I ended up missing nearly a year of school and had major setbacks. Once I finally recovered I came back to school full time and caught up! Now at 17 years old I am much better! Because of all of this, I am developing this concussion test to help detect concussions earlier and hopefully spread awareness so that no one ever has to go through the pain I experienced.
