The goal of any Alzheimer’s therapy is to help the person maintain a better quality of life. This is what he wants for his dad, and this is why he developed therapy streams using music and images. Music is an amazing tool that promotes interactive communication. Rhythm cues are felt in the motor center of our brains, a part of the brain that is intact late into the disease’s progression. Many people associate music with important events and emotions (i.e. a wedding song), helping to create happy and calming feelings.

The Wheelmap is an online map that allows users to share information about how accessible places are by wheelchair. It was launched in 2010, and more than 500,000 locations across the world have been mapped.

“Wheelmap is an open and free online map for wheelchair-accessible places. It empowers users to share and access information on the wheelchair-accessibility of public places. Like with Wikipedia, everyone can participate by tagging places”, says on the official website.

“I knew that he would be able to operate a capacitive proximity sensor, since it only requires that he touch the sensor. I did some searching and did find a few assistive products, but they were all remote switches and rather expensive. We thought that it would be better for him cognitively if the device he operates is the same as the one that he touches. Hence the birth of the Touch Switch. The Touch Switch is an extremely sensitive capacitive proximity sensor switch.

Fertig stayed back at the house so he wouldn’t be a burden while everyone played near the water. Frustration fueled his desire to invent a new, lightweight, manageable sand wheelchair. He enlisted help from his son, Chris, a marine engineer for Maersk Line Ltd. After 2½ years and four prototypes, they developed Sand Rider.
Sand Rider looks similar to a jogging stroller. It has two 19-inch wheels in the back and a 12-inch wheel in front. It weighs about 50 pounds and has polyurethane wheels which make it roll easily over soft sand.

Ricky loves DVD’s but he is not able to keep them in very good shape: scratches, cracks, scuffs and other things make Ricky’s DVD’s useless very fast.
Ronnie invented a DVD player that would resist Ricky’s use.

“I planned to build him essentially an arcade game system to play his shows that can stand up to his unique needs and unintentional abuse of equipment. Now I've built the player and it's been working pretty well the last couple months for Ricky”, says Ronnie.
