About the solution
Here's the translated text:
The colostomy is a surgical procedure in which a part of the intestine is removed and the anal canal is closed, forcing the individual to use a specific bag attached to the abdomen to collect their intestinal content.
The collection bag is only for collecting fecal content, without controlling its exit. Noises and odors occur anywhere, without prior warning and without any possibility of control, often causing the bag to inflate, revealing its presence under the clothing.
Discomfort, insecurity, social isolation, decreased self-esteem, and quality of life are some of the main indirect consequences of this procedure.
The medical device designed for colostomy patients developed by Triple Idea aims to improve the quality of life and self-esteem of these patients.
The solution results from the application of design concepts and new combinations of materials, with the aim of providing the individual with artificial control over their own body and the controlled release of intestinal content.
With our device, the patient no longer has a permanently suspended ostomy bag on the abdomen, as it is folded and compacted inside the device, hidden by a lid. When the patient wishes to release the intestinal content, they remove the lid and the bag expands for collection, and is then replaced by a new compacted bag.
The device is attached to the body in the same way as conventional ostomy bags: by coupling it to an ostomy plate. The user can also control the release of gases, wherever and whenever they wish, thanks to the valve integrated into the ostomy plate, which is activated manually. The device, in addition to solving the main problems associated with the use of existing devices on the market, is also aesthetically more pleasing, increasing the feeling of hygiene and security, as well as self-esteem and quality of life.
Today, the product is known as Hydrustoma and is licensed to the company Hydrumedical, which will distribute it internationally.
