About the solution
Cancer101 is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering cancer patients and their caregivers with the necessary tools, resources, and information they need to manage the disease from the point of diagnosis through survivorship or end of life. Recognizing the overwhelming nature of a cancer diagnosis, Cancer101 aims to provide practical resources and guidance to help individuals navigate the complex journey of cancer care.
The foundation of Cancer101’s approach is its "CANCER101 Planner." This planner is designed as a roadmap for cancer patients, offering a structured way to keep track of medications, appointments, contacts, symptoms, and questions for healthcare providers. The idea is to alleviate some of the burden of organization and information tracking, giving patients more confidence in managing their care and enhancing communication with medical teams.
In addition to the planner, the organization connects patients with resources tailored to specific cancer types, treatments, and challenges. This includes information on financial assistance, treatment options, clinical trials, and emotional support.
Founded by Monica Knoll, the motivation behind Cancer101 is deeply personal. After being diagnosed with cancer, Monica experienced firsthand the challenges of managing the disease. The vast amount of information, numerous decisions to make, and the need for organization became evident. Monica's personal journey inspired her to create a structured tool to help others in similar situations.
Since its inception, Cancer101 has been distributing its planners for free to hospitals, doctors' offices, and other medical facilities throughout the United States, benefiting countless patients and their families.
The organization's mission is a testament to the importance of patient advocacy, education, and support. By simplifying the process and offering clear, actionable tools, Cancer101 helps reduce the fear and uncertainty that often come with a cancer diagnosis, empowering patients to take an active role in their health journey.
