Boop- Mum develops an app for her autistic son's education

Carolina Piedade 于 2022-09-09 20:34 分享

About the solution

After her son was diagnosed with autism, Debbie Craig began looking at ways to remove the barriers to learning that children with additional educational needs experience. This was further fulled when as a result of the pandemic, SEN children and their families experienced unprecedented challenges, with autistic children struggling to cope with changes to their routine leading to increased levels of anxiety during the lockdown. The families of these children were also affected, as they were left in limbo, with teachers requiring better resources to support their students remotely - ones that are better suited to the specific needs of these individuals.

She then used her skills as a software developer to create a solution that would enable SEN children to continue to learn during the pandemic, and even after it. This way, she could help to close the learning gap between mainstream learning and additional needs. This is when BOOP was created!

BOOP brings together the key people involved in a child’s care and development, so their parents, teachers, and therapists can work together as a team and enable that child to reach their full potential. As an easy-to-use platform with everything in one place, it provides the necessary consistency while keeping track of the child's development.

Debbie's innovative software education platform secured a slice of £20m Government funding to support communities through the Covid-19 pandemic
