About the solution
When Dr. Chen Mao Davies gave birth to her first child, she had dreams of nursing bliss, which did not materialize, and instead, she experienced intense pain and discomfort, which led her emotions and thoughts to spiral downwards into depression. Struggling to achieve a good latch (how the baby fastens onto the breast), she suffered from breast infections, baby’s weight loss, and postpartum depression.
She knew that something had to change, as she could not possibly be the only mother around to fight these thoughts and struggles around breastfeeding, That’s when she decided to develop an app to help all women breastfeed. With her experience and technical expertise, she began to develop a new way of revolutionizing breastfeeding support with personalized and scalable delivery. The result is LatchAid!
Through the use of cutting-edge 3D technology, AI, peer groups, and live experts, families experiencing difficulties can access help when they need it and advice when they want it. Having access to accurate and evidence-based information 24/7 removes barriers to successful breastfeeding.
By putting mums in control of their unique breastfeeding journey, providing expert advice from professionals, and creating virtual supportive communities, LatchAid, increases the success rate in breastfeeding, by taking into consideration the whole picture, which means the mum, the baby, and the struggles.
