Students create Lego robots to help fight against the new coronavirus

Ana Ribeiro 于 2020-03-25 19:07 分享

About the solution

Students from an elementary school in southern Taiwan came up with an innovative way to encourage kids to wash their hands and fight the spread of the new coronavirus. They created a Lego robot that automatically dispenses an amount of hand sanitizer, so students can sterilize their hands without having to touch the bottle, lowering the risk of infection.

Wu Ya-ju, the school's Academic Director, explained that an ultrasonic sensor is installed at the top of the robot and is controlled by a computer program. When the sensor detects an object approaching, it presses the trigger of a plastic spray bottle holding the alcohol.

Now, at every school break, students are lining up to get a chance to use the robot. Every time a child cleans their hands a recorded voice encourages that behavior by saying “Washing hands is super”.
