About the solution

Intel Smart Clip was developed to warn patients if they left their baby in the car, allowing the prevention of hot car deaths.

Marcie is an engineer who works at Intel and lives in Chandler, Arizona. Because of the high temperatures there in the summer of 2015, and since she has a baby, she decided to find a solution.

Having a daughter over this past year, having heard these things happen, it just kind of hit home a little bit closer”, she explained.
The gadget, developed within Intel, consists of a clip which communicates with an app on the parent’s smartphone, sounding an alarm if it senses the baby is still strapped in while the parent is walking away.

Marcie tested the device with the help of friends who have children and used their feedback to improve the product.
