About the solution
Jessie was a football player. One time, she was struck by another player. But she didn’t even notice how it had affected her. “A couple of days later my coach called and said he had been watching the footage. He just kept saying ‘You got rocked.’ What freaked me out was that I didn’t realize I was hurt when I actually was really hurt”, the entrepreneur recalled.
The woman wasn’t so worried about the physical pain wasn’t as much of a concern as the lack of resources available for concussion detection. So she started to work on developing a solution for detection concussions.
At first, she thought about building a mouth guard that could help athletes reduce their risk of concussions. But then she realised that there were already several versions of that device, so Jessie decided to create an original system. That’s how she got the idea to create Tozuda, an impact sensor, which consists of a device that can attach to a player’s equipment and detect linear forces and acceleration a player may face while in a game. Once a potentially dangerous limit has been reached, the sensor alerts the player and coach.
There are other impact sensors are available, however, according to the inventor, this one is more effective and affordable.
The gadget is patented and can be pre-ordered online from 49,99 USD.
