About the solution
The urban environment exposes us to a large variety of pollutants such as carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide and particles of metal, rubber and dust. With BRIZI, you can take action to protect your child and yourself from the harmful effects of air pollution.
“BRIZI - making the invisible, visible”
BRIZI BABY is an app-operated dual fan-filter that significantly reduces the level of harmful gases and particles in a baby’s or toddler’s breathing area. BRIZI BABY is an autonomous device fitted with sensors that identify and record gas composition and particulate levels in the air. Its sensors automatically trigger the fan-filter when pollutants reach dangerous levels.
BRIZI BABY has been proven to reduce airborne pollutants by up to 80% due to its patented innovative filter. This unique and high quality filter is a multi-layered medical grade nano-metric woven fabric. The woven layer filters particulates and a carbon layer filters harmful gases, reducing both particles and chemicals. BRIZI BABY’s fan delivers 1.5 litres of filtered air every 10 seconds, forming an ‘air curtain’ that protects your child from airborne pollutants in the ambient environment.
Field tests conducted by Professor Prashant Kumar, Professor and Chair in Air Quality and Health at the University of Surrey, found that BRIZI BABY cuts the concentration of fine-sized particles inside the pram by at least half even without a rain cover or canopy and up to 80% when pollution in the ambient air spikes due to emissions from traffic or nearby idling vehicles.
Data from BRIZI’s sensors is collected by the free BRIZI APP which provides personalised air quality data comparisons. BRIZI also has a SENSOR ONLY option for active urban dwellers to track air quality while running, cycling or going about their daily activities. Data from the BRIZI community is aggregated and combined with publicly available air quality information and visualized on the BRIZI APP and the BRIZI WEBSITE as a real-time air pollution ‘heat map’, helping users to optimize their daily routes and avoid pollution ‘hotspots’.
BRIZI will become for air, what BRITA has become for water with a line of products is intended to be desirable as well as necessary. The team behind BRIZI are keen to use what they have learned to help others safeguard their the air quality
Future products could include an active fan filter for cyclists, a wearable (headphones-like) air filtration device or an air-purifying device for air travel use. All devices will operate within the same ecosystem of physical product, sensor and app.
