Student develops app to cope with mental health

About the solution

You Are Loved was launched in 2018 and works by allowing the users to rate their experiences, each day, on a scale from 0 to 10. The app also allows users to track their mood and have conversations with other app users (family and friends).

“I basically just want to create something that could really help people struggling with mental health issues, or depression or anxiety, and that’s kind of what I want to do for the rest of my life,” he explained.

With this app, the developer hopes he can get people to feel more comfortable talking about their mental health and feelings.

The users can rate their mood from 0 to 10, and only their family and friends can view. If a user’s rating is consistently too low, his friends will receive an alert.

You Are Loved also provides content such as uplifting articles and sends daily reminds to the users, telling them they are loved.

“When I’m feeling down, what really helps me is other people – spending time with other people, getting love,” he said. “I think that’s really what’s at the root of all that, just showing love to your friends and family, showing it to the person who needs it.”

The app is free and available for iOS.
