About the solution
Ziad adapted to his life circumstances with his condition, but things got harder when it was time for him to go to school. Since his family had no money to buy the prosthetics available on the market, his father built his own prosthetics, using plastic bottles. The bottles have been cut in half and placed on the arm, while a tool (be it a spoon, pen or other) is pierced through bottle cap and held in place.
“There are lots of things that I feel helpless about regarding Ziad. So God inspired me and I brought a bottle, cut it, and made some holes in it for the pen and the spoon. I made it and we attached a pen to it. Ten minutes later, Ziad started learning how to write and eat with it. Something that is very small made a child happy, brought him back to life. He started to move around with his brothers, eat, drink and write”, the inventor explained.
Ziad’s father is in touch with a German company that makes artificial limbs in hopes that they will be able to help the boy.
Also, after a viewer read the story about Ziad, he launched a Gofundme.com fundraising campaing to try and get Ziad set up with some new 3D-printed prosthetics. The fundraising effort is working in conjunction with the global volunteer organization e-NABLE, and hopes to raise $2,000 to help Ziad, and others like him
