Association develops wheelchairs to enable ice skating for disabled people

Merle Schlottmann 于 2017-04-21 12:00 分享

About the solution

Chenderhärz has been founded by Reto since his son suffered from a congenital defect and had to undergo several surgeries. Tino received advanced treatment in Switzerland that saved his life. As Reto became aware of this, he founded the association to collect money for helping people in need. The association fosters contact between disabled and nondisabled people. Therefore, they adapted a wheelchair so that it can be used for ice skating.

Two metal racks are attached to the sides of the wheelchair next to the small wheels on the front. The cross braces are constructed to lift the wheelchair in the front, so that the small wheels do not reach the ground. In compensation, the metal rack has a horizontal metal pipe, acting as runner for the wheelchair to provide more stability for the wheelchair.

The association annually invites disabled people for ice skating using these modified wheelchairs.

Other care giving local groups benefit from the innovation as well.
